Royal Wedding, Shuttle Launch AND... 8 months old!!

The Wedding of the Year is done, with the world waking early to watching Prince Wills and Catherine Middleton take their vows this morning. We can't help but be fascinated with the Royals across the pond, cheering the happy couple on and hopeful that their days together will be brighter than the life that unraveled for poor, beautiful Lady Di.

Later today, the Endeavour will blast off into the far reaches of the universe, leaving only one NASA shuttle launch left. It is another event that we can't help but watch, also marred by sad memories of the Challenger tragedy in 1986, which is a vivid memory for this then-first-grader, in whose elementary school halls hung a photo of Christa McCauliffe for years to come.

And today, closer to home, Audrey is 8 months old!

It has been an eventful month. Although army crawling by 7 months, (yes, she's an overachiever), she has now mastered full-out crawling and let me tell you, she is FAST! Our girl is always on the move, although I can get her to sit still to check out a new toy for 60 seconds before moving on to something else. The attention span is fleeting! She loves climbing - on her mommy and daddy, pillows, the couch - pretty much anything that she can grab and pull up on. She is opening drawers! The babyproofing is in full effect in the J house!

We are getting much more adventurous with foods, as well. She's eating three meals a day, plus still getting 4 bottles. We've started little pieces of fruit and for her big day today, puffs! She really hasn't met a food that she doesn't like!

What a happy 8 months it has been! We love you, little girl! Hard to believe we are just 4 months from her first birthday!

PS - Well, the shuttle didn't go off as planned. Better safe than sorry. Thinking of the astronauts and wishing them a safe journey when lift-off becomes a go.
