Naming the blog

Growing up, I loved Amy Grant. I became a fan in her early days, before the crossover to pop, and I loved her distinctive, natural voice and simple, faithful refrains. And of course, I loved her Christmas albums. Circa 1987, you could find me dancing around the family room in our home in Lexington and around our Christmas tree singing every word to her Tennessee Christmas album. (I loved the title track, but I always changed it to Kentucky Christmas in my own rendition.) One of my favorite songs was Love Has Come. I hadn't discovered yet that I am no Amy, no Celine Dion, no Faith Hill, so I belted it out! Isn't that the true meaning of Christmas? Christ is born, Christ is Love, Love has come to save us.

More recently, another favorite Christian artist, Mark Schulz, has released a song by the same title. Mark says life can be filled with sorrow, but there will come a day when we all will see that God is Love and He has come to save us. We've had some hard days, but God's love covers and heals all wounds.

When I decided to start a new blog, I thought of how our lives have been changed by Audrey's birth and arrival into our family. I am so thankful for my most amazing, loving husband and our strong and happy marriage. I am so thankful for my wonderful family, consistently supportive and always there for me, both near and far. There was great love in my life, no doubt. But a new and different love grew a part of my heart that had never existed before the day I became a mom, and I am so thankful that God has sent our little love to be with us.

So the love of Jesus, full of grace and salvation, and the love of family, a gift of God to help us through this life, is where it all begins. My cup overflows and I am thankful that Love has Come.
